As a part of the Saskatchewan Water & Wastewater Association Conference and Trade Show we are organizing a Silent Auction where all proceeds will go to Water for People.

We are looking for your help in raising funds for Water for People through donation of items for the Silent Auction. The audience will be made up of water treatment professionals in the industry. Your gifts and donations will be acknowledged with your corporate identifier, if desired.

Water for People is an international charitable organization which helps provide potable water for underprivileged people around the world. Through co-operation and co-ordination with other development and aid agencies, Water for People is able to provide potable water and healthy sanitation options for many third world communities.

In Western Canada, WFP began to focus fundraising efforts on Bolivia in 2011. Bolivia is one of the poorest and least developed countries in Latin America, and limited access to clean drinking water and sanitation is one contributing factor of poverty, especially in rural areas, where access to safe drinking water is as low as 50% and sanitation coverage, as low as 15%.

WFP began working in Bolivia in 1997, and has forged partnerships with key local players such as the local private sector, local governments and NGOs, to better support community water supply and sanitation development. Together with local partners, WFP Bolivia is also implementing water, sanitation and hygiene education programs throughout five regions.

To ensure we have the required space allocation, please drop donations off by November 1, 2011. If it is more convenient to bring a donation to the conference rather than shipping it before, please let Calle know so that we can determine how much space we may need.
