This one-day work shop is aimed at operators of water/wastewater systems where chlorine gas is dispensed with a cylinder-mount vacuum chlorinator. Theory, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of cylinder mount chlorinators will be discussed.
Chlorine properties, chemical and physical characteristics, equipment, design and function, chlorine safety, start up and shut down procedures, chlorine terms, chlorine dosage, chlorine residual and some math with be used to demonstrate daily dosage calculations. A practical session using a number of chlorinators will be disassembled and reassembled. Guidelines for chlorine gas use in the water and wastewater industry and regulatory requirements will be part of the session.
A tour of the local chlorine gas facility is also planned.
