As the Technologist 2, Regional Systems, you will perform operation and maintenance work,
laboratory and field testing, meter reading and prepare required operational, maintenance,
regulatory and status reports within an assigned regional water and wastewater system. The
regional water and wastewater system may include SaskWater or customer owned water
treatment, wastewater treatment, water distribution/transmission and wastewater collection
systems.
To qualify, you will have a two-year technical diploma; a Water Resources Engineering
Technology diploma is preferred. Eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist
(A.Sc.T.) or Certified Technician (C.Tech) is required. A Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is
required.
Certification at the appropriate levels in Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater
Collection and Wastewater Treatment is required to be obtained in accordance with the Operator
Certification Board requirements or existing industry reciprocity agreements.
In addition to the above qualifications, the job requires 1.5 years of experience in the following
areas:
• Working knowledge of water treatment, water distribution, wastewater collection and
wastewater treatment operation, maintenance and troubleshooting processes and procedures.
Special Requirements: The position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Record Check and
Drug and Alcohol test. You must be legally entitled to work in Canada. A valid Saskatchewan driver’s
license is required.

As the Senior Technologist, Asset Management, you will develop, maintain, and administer the
corporate GIS system, survey as-builts, survey line locates, CAD drafting, file record drawings,
and asset management software and provide routine to moderately complex engineering
technology support for a broad range of engineering activities related to water and wastewater
distribution assets.
To qualify, you will have diploma or degree in Geomatics or GIS or similar engineering
technical discipline, registration as a professional Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) and a
valid Saskatchewan driver’s license.
In addition to the above qualifications, the job requires 2 years of progressively more responsible
experience in the following areas:
• Working knowledge of surveying and modernized survey techniques: Global Positioning
Systems, total stations, laser levels, automatic levels, data collectors, and conventional
survey equipment.
• Working knowledge of GIS and applicable software (ArcGIS, QGIS).
• Working knowledge of standard engineering practices and procedures.
• Working knowledge of digital drafting software such as AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of SQL and Asset Management.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications and translate information for use
by contractors and staff.
• Skill in written and verbal communication.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, external
customers, contractors and suppliers and to promote and maintain a positive corporate

We are hiring two (2) Permanent Full Time, Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operator positions working out of the Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) Wastewater Treatment Plant in Regina, SK.

What you’d be responsible for As a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operator working in a highly technical facility, you are accountable for monitoring all ongoing operational aspects of the plant which includes ensuring plant operations conform with operating standards, regulatory approvals and procedures, and initiating control process adjustments in response to changing conditions.

Reporting to the Operations Lead Hand, the Operator 1 key accountabilities are, but not limited to: Overseeing process and equipment monitoring and control. Operating and inspecting various pieces of process equipment. Reviewing computerized operating and laboratory data. Performing general plant operational duties. Participating in plant process cleaning activities.

General duties of WWTP Operator 1 will also include: Performing routine and non-routine process configuration activities as required by Standard Operating Procedures, including lock-out/tag-out of process equipment and draining, de-pressurization and flushing of isolated equipment.

Conducting routine process control tests to optimize various processes throughout the plant. Performing daily rounds by inspecting the plant process and equipment and using the plant process control computer system.

Performing routine preventive maintenance activities as required by the Standard Operating Procedures. Testing and/or collecting, preparation and delivery of wastewater, sludge and other related samples to the laboratory.

Recording process information onto the daily operations log sheets and into the plant computer system.

Ensuring work permits and hazard assessments are completed and areas inspected before safe work can proceed.

Operation of tandem trucks and other equipment such as forklifts. Training will be provided if required.

The incumbent will be required to participate in On-Call duties, which will result in after-hours callouts.

What’s required to be successful Qualifications, experience and behaviours the successful candidate will possess are:

High school diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education).

Level I or Level II Wastewater Treatment Operator certification preferred candidates with related WWTP plant experience, but not possessing this level of certification may be considered as a Non Certified Operator.

Previous experience in a wastewater treatment plant preferred.

Demonstrated proficiency in applicable computer process software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite of products (outlook, excel word, etc.).

Previous experience with asset management software and SCADA control systems will be considered an asset.

Must have a valid Class 3A driver's license or able to obtain a Class 3A driver's license within 3 months of date of hire. (with 6 demerits or less).

A 5 year Drivers Abstract will be required at the time of hire. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.

Clearance on pre- placement medical testing and drug & alcohol testing will be required. As the ideal candidate, the qualifications (skills and behaviours) listed above are supplemented with your ability to perform all functions within defined health, safety and environmental requirements and demonstrate a high level of independence and initiative.

You have highly developed written and verbal communication skills in order to develop and deliver both written and verbal reports and additionally, you have the analytical thinking/decision making and technical skills required to effectively carry out their responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Possess Grade 12 with advanced Math 30 and Chemistry 30.
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Level 3 Alberta Environment Water Treatment Certificate.
Must hold a valid Standard First Aid Certificate and WHMIS certification.
An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.
Required to obtain an Alberta Level 3 Water Treatment Certification within the time frame outlined below. This includes the completion of an assigned study program. Progress as defined by the WTP Superintendent or Manager of Water & Wastewater Treatment must be achieved within the defined period set in offer of employment period.
Valid Class 5 driver's license with an acceptable driving record;
Equivalent combination of management approved experience will be considered.
