Learning Objectives
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Identify electrical motor control systems, review motor types and their components.
- Describe pump types used in the water and wastewater industry and their make-up.
- Understand liquid level controls.
- Analyze pumping hydraulics under both static and dynamic conditions.
- Interpret pumping curves.
- Perform pump hydraulic calculations such as break horsepower and wire -to-water efficiencies.
- Apply pump affinity laws to determine the changing effects of RPM to hydraulic characteristics.

- are responsible for maintenance of water and wastewater utility systems including plant operations;
- are responsible for pump stations and related infrastructure;
- are supervisors & managers of utility systems.
